Williams to change Massa's chassis after FP1 crash

Williams has been forced to change Felipe Massa’s chassis following his hefty crash during the first practice session for the Belgian Grand Prix. Massa, on his first flying lap at Spa-Francorchamps, encountered an oversteer moment as he negotiated the right-hand Malmedy bend at the top of the circuit. Massa skated through the gravel and suffered a heavy impact with the barriers, while his FW40 sustained substantial damage. The Brazilian, who missed the Hungarian Grand Prix due to a virus, was not injured in the incident, but will now take on a new chassis. The repair job means his participation in the second practice session, which will begin at 14:00 local time, remains a doubt.
