Hungary F1 test: Leclerc puts Ferrari on top on Day 1

Ferrari protege Charles Leclerc pipped Stoffel Vandoorne to the quickest time on day one of Formula 1's post-Hungarian Grand Prix test at the Hungaroring. The Formula 2 championship leader used the Pirelli soft compound tyre to clock a 1m17.746s in the closing minutes of the eight-hour session, finishing 0.088s quicker than McLaren's Vandoorne. Vandoorne, who set the benchmark in the morning but stopped early with a mechanical problem, spent most of the afternoon in the garage. But he got out in the latter part of the session, with the team hoping to gather data on a series of new parts, and set his best lap on the ultrasoft tyres.
