Alonso pleased to 'excite' with Q1 show

– Fernando Alonso expressed happiness in being able to reward long-suffering McLaren fans by setting the quickest time during Q1 for the British Grand Prix, as conditions dried at Silverstone.Light rain fell prior to the start of qualifying and Intermediate tyres were required, with Alonso occupying the drop zone when he made the call to switch to slicks during the closing stages.Alonso crossed the line with less than a second to spare and utilised the drying circuit to set the quickest time in Q1, the first time McLaren topped a segment of qualifying since 2013.Alonso was ultimately eliminated in Q2, which took place in dry conditions, and will start from the back of the grid due to...
