Bottas edges Hamilton in opening practice
altteri Bottas edged out team-mate Lewis Hamilton as Mercedes comfortably topped Friday morning's first practice session for the British Grand Prix, both drivers beating last year's pole position time.Bottas and Hamilton traded fastest lap times on Pirelli's Soft compound tyre at an overcast Silverstone, while main rivals Red Bull and Ferrari sampled the Super Soft rubber.Bottas produced a 1:29.106, which put him 0.078s ahead of Hamilton, as both Silver Arrows eclipsed 2016's pole lap of 1:29.287, posted by Hamilton.Red Bull finished as Mercedes' nearest challenger, Max Verstappen some half a second back, and Daniel Ricciardo the best part of a second down.Red Bull has applied a raft of new...
