Punished Ericsson loses top ten start
Marcus Ericsson has been stripped of his top ten grid position for the Italian Grand Prix after being penalised for impeding Nico Hulkenberg during qualifying. Ericsson had impressed by reaching Q3 for the first time since China, but his hopes of scoring points for a third race in a row could be hampered after he was judged to have unfairly blocked Force India's Hulkenberg during Q1. Though the incident did not have a bearing on the final result of qualifying as both Ericsson and Hulkenberg qualified for Q1, Ericsson was still punished, landing two penalty points – taking him to seven overall - and a drop of three positions on the grid.
