McLaren escapes penalty for qualifying error

Fernando Alonso will be allowed to keep his 17th place start for the British Grand Prix despite the discovery he had run one of Jenson Button's tyres in qualifying. Blaming a 'communication error' for the mistake, stewards accepted the error and opted to give McLaren a reprimand, meaning Alonso will still start 17th alongside his team-mate in 18th.
