Alonso calls for fewer races, more tests

Fernando Alonso says there should be less races on the Formula 1 calendar in future seasons, explaining that is becoming increasingly difficult to maintain a high level of performance throughout the year. As a compromise, the Spaniard believes the sport could drop 'one or two' of its current 20 race weekends and organise more test days. 'Last year we had the last Grand Prix at the end of November and almost right up to Christmas, there were events I had to take part in,' Alonso explained at Ferrari's annual Wrooom gathering in the Italian Dolomite Mountains.
