Montezemolo says Ferrari right to keep Massa

Ferrari were right to extend Felipe Massa's Formula One contract into 2013 even if he seemed to go on holiday for the first part of this year, Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo said on Thursday. The Italian team will have an unchanged line-up next season, Brazilian Massa again partnering double world champion Fernando Alonso, and Montezemolo assessed their performances at a Christmas media lunch in Maranello. He compared Alonso, overall runner-up this season to Red Bull's Sebastian Vettel but voted driver of the year by team principals, to former Ferrari champions Niki Lauda and Michael Schumacher.
