FIA confirms new skid block rule following Barcelona trials

04/06/2025 at 18:3904/06/2025 at 19:59 The FIA has announced a significant update to Formula 1’s technical regulations following trials of stainless-steel skid blocks at last weekend’s Spanish Grand Prix, prompted by safety concerns that came to light earlier this season. The decision addresses issues that emerged at last April’s Japanese Grand Prix, when several cars’ titanium skid blocks ignited dry grass at the Suzuka circuit. The incidents, which led to multiple red flags in free practice, highlighted the risks of the current titanium skid blocks, especially with 2025 rule changes allowing cars to run closer to the ground for enhanced...
