Williams withdraws Sargeant's car from Sprint event

A sore ego wasn't the only consequence of Logan Sargeant's big mishap in Saturday morning's Sprint Shootout, with Williams withdrawing the American's FW45 from this afternoon's race due to extensive damage. Sargeant had showed good pace in the first segment of the Shootout, setting the eleventh fastest lap. But a mistake in the closing stages of SQ1 propelled the Williams into the barriers on the outside of Turn 15. Although Sargeant's time was good enough for him to make join teammate Alex Albon in SQ2, extensive damage inflicted to the Williams brought his session to a premature end.
