Bottas surprised: 'Further away than in recent seasons'

Most of the Formula 1 season revolved around Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton. Both drivers remained close to each other in the world championship until the last Grand Prix in Abu Dhabi and could therefore use the help of Valtteri Bottas and Sergio Perez. The Finn and Mexican struggled to keep up with their teammate at the start of the season, but as the year progressed they managed to outperform Hamilton and Verstappen. While Bottas had a strong season just after the summer break, Perez managed to be invaluable in the final races of the season.
