Alonso set for surgery following February bike crash

Alpine F1 driver Fernando Alonso is set to undergo surgery before the beginning of the 2022 season following a bicycle crash in early 2021. Alonso was out cycling in Switzerland back in February when a heavy bike crash landed him in hospital, with police confirming a week later that he was hit by a car. As a result, the Spaniard required surgery to put plates in his face; it was a temporary solution to get him on the track for the 2021 season. The 40-year-old said that the incident left him “very scared”, but he made it through his first season back. His road to recovery continues and he will now have surgery again to remove the plates ahead of the 2022 F1 season. Alonso maintains that...
