McLaren sign option to join Formula E grid

McLaren have confirmed that they have signed an option to join the Formula E grid from the 2022/23 season. The Woking outfit under the agreement have the option to become one of a maximum of 12 teams which can sign up for that season – the ninth edition of the Formula E Championship. McLaren Applied are currently the exclusive battery supplier for Formula E, meaning they are unable to enter a works team until that deal comes to an end – the contract expires following the conclusion of the 2021-22 season.
