FIA auction raises almost 2m for Covid-19 fight
The FIA’s #RaceAgainstCovid auction has raised almost 2m with all proceeds to be donated to the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies. The online-only auction, in conjunction with RM Sotheby’s, featured 95 pieces and VIP experiences that were donated by the motorsport community. The auction itself, which raised 944,392, was added to the 1,000,000 already donated by the FIA Foundation to the charities that are part of the global response to the Covid-19 pandemic. The piece that received the largest bid was the McLaren MP4-24 show car, which was created for display purposes to promote the team’s 2009 machine, raising 73,000.
