F1's revised shutdown period extended to 35 days
Formula 1’s revised mandatory shutdown period for teams and engine manufacturers has been extended from three to five weeks, following unanimous agreement between the involved parties. Formula 1 is currently on an extended hiatus due to the
COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic, with racing not due to start until at least mid-June. The Canadian Grand Prix, currently slated as the first
round, is likely to be postponed. Formula 1 teams observe a two-week shutdown on an annual
basis in August but in response to the pandemic this was moved to March/April,
and extended by seven days. Engine manufacturers were also included in the shutdown for
