Alboreto delivers to Uncle Ken one last F1 win

Michele Alboreto scored an unexpected victory on this day in 1983, winning the Detroit Grand Prix and bringing the Tyrrell team its ultimate F1 triumph. The 26-year-old took full advantage of the problems that befell the faster turbocharged cars of Nelson Piquet and René Arnoux, driving for Brabham and Renault respectively. Alboreto led home a trio of Cosworth runners, with Williams' Keke Rosberg and McLaren's John Watson completing the podium. The race was also the 155th and last win of the legendary Ford Cosworth DFV.
