Axed Williams racer Sergey Sirotkin gets Audi DTM test
Ousted Williams driver Sergey Sirotkin is set to get behind the wheel of DTM machinery at Jerez on Tuesday. Sirotkin, following spells as reserve driver for Sauber and Renault, stepped up to a Formula 1 race seat for 2018 with Williams. But his rookie campaign coincided with Williams’ worst season in its history and he finished in the top 10 just once, at the Italian Grand Prix. As a result he ended the year at the foot of the Drivers’ Championship. Sirotkin held out hopes of remaining with the team for 2019 but long-term backer SMP Racing opted not to continue with that programme.
