Alonso exit shows F1 must change - Sainz

Fernando Alonso's departure from Formula 1 should be a wake-up call to the sport, according to Carlos Sainz. The two-time world champion will be replaced by his fellow Spaniard at McLaren last year, having grown tired of the team's wait to deliver a competitive car once again. Returning to McLaren in 2015 has proven to be a mistake for Alonso, as the team have failed in partnerships with Honda and, this year, Renault. The 37-year-old has instead turned his attention to winning motorsport's 'Triple Crown' and he will leave F1 next year with a view to adding the Indianapolis 500 to victories at the Monaco GP and Le Mans 24 Hours to match Graham Hill's unique feat.
