Alonso 'as good as Schumacher'
Fernando Alonso has as much "pure talent" as seven-time champion and Formula 1 legend Michael Schumacher, according to Felipe Massa, who teamed with both at Ferrari. Alonso ended Schumacher's dominance of F1 in the early part of the century, winning back to back titles with Renault. Alonso's thrilling overtake on Schumacher at the 130R corner during the 2005 Japanese Grand Prix was seen as a 'passing of the torch' moment, with Alonso going on to become the youngest world champion in F1 history to that point by the end of the year.
