Mercedes confirms two-year Lewis Hamilton extension

Mercedes has announced that Lewis Hamilton will remain with the team until at least 2020, after a new two-year deal was reached between the parties. Hamilton joined Mercedes in 2013 and in 2015 signed a new three-year deal that was set to expire at the end of the current campaign. Mercedes had hoped to wrap up Hamilton’s future by the start of the season but both sides repeatedly stressed that they were in no hurry to finalise an agreement. On Thursday, ahead of Mercedes’ home Grand Prix in Germany, it was finally confirmed that the reigning World Champion will remain with the team.
