Mercedes may delay new engine again

Mercedes may have to again delay the introduction of their upgraded new engine, with the world champions currently unable to confirm if it will be used at this week's French GP. A decision will only be made after Friday practice at the Paul Ricard circuit. Ferrari, Renault and Honda all introduced new engines two weeks ago in Montreal but Mercedes had to shelve plans to debut a 'spec two' unit after a fault was detected. Although a new engine will be fitted to the Mercedes cars this week, the fresh units may not contain the upgrades the Silver Arrows originally planned to debut two weeks ago.
