Pirelli asked to simplify tyre names

The FIA and Formula 1 have asked Pirelli to simplify tyre names ahead of next season in order to make it easier for fans to understand. However, the range of tyres will be the same.  It's proposed that Pirelli will opt to name the same three tyres each week. These will be called 'hard', 'medium' and 'soft. The range of tyres will still be in use and they'll pass this information on using an alphabetical system. Sounds more confusing?
