Vettel beats Hamilton to pole

Sebastian Vettel stormed to what could be a crucial pole position at the Azerbaijan GP, out-pacing title rival Lewis Hamilton by a tenth of a second. In another indicator that Ferrari still hold the qualifying advantage over Mercedes, championship leader Vettel's 1:41.498 on his first flying lap in Q3 was enough to seal his third pole in a row. But while Hamilton improved to close in on Vettel, both drivers could have been usurped by Kimi Raikkonen, who set two fastest sectors on his final lap before making a mistake at Turn 15 and losing a second in the final sector. Valtteri Bottas was third but 0.339s off the pace, with Red Bull's Daniel Ricciardo and Max Verstappen fourth and fifth....
