Alonso loses wheel and spins off in Barcelona

Fernando Alonso and McLaren had a bad start to pre-season testing when the Spaniard spun off after losing a wheel just six laps into his session in Spain. The two-time Formula 1 world champion lost control at the last corner of the Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona when his right rear wheel came off. The McLaren team did not immediately know the cause of the incident. Alonso, 36, had been on course to set the fastest time of the day. He returned to the pits holding a piece of the wheel assembly, suggesting there had been a mechanical failure. The Spaniard also closely inspected the right rear corner of the car while it was sitting in the gravel trap. McLaren are investigating the cause of...
