Hamilton to start Brazilian GP from pit lane

Lewis Hamilton will start Sunday's Brazilian Grand Prix from the pit lane after his Mercedes Formula 1 team opted to break parc ferme conditions to make changes to his car following a crash in qualifying at Interlagos. Hamilton crashed out on his first flying lap in Q1 on Saturday, leaving him 20th on the grid and requiring dispensation from the race stewards to take the start after technically failing to qualify. Mercedes confirmed following qualifying it had opted to make a number of changes to his car after qualifying, including fitting a new power unit, breaking parc ferme conditions in the process.
