Sainz set for 20-place grid penalty in Suzuka

Carlos Sainz has already picked up grid penalties for the Japanese Grand Prix after taking on new Renault power unit elements. For Friday morning’s FP1 session at Suzuka the Toro Rosso driver has taken his sixth MGU-H, his fifth V6, and his fifth turbo.  As this is the first time he has used a sixth element in 2017 he should pick up 10 places for the MGU-H, plus five each for the V6 and turbo, making for a total of 20. Meanwhile, Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen has taken on his fourth and final V6, MGU-K, control electronics and energy store, with the next ones set to trigger penalties.
