Wurz: Make cars safer, tracks more extreme

– Formula 1 should continue to improve the safety of cars and in turn race at "more extreme" circuits, according to former driver Alexander Wurz, who serves as Chairman of the Grand Prix Drivers' Association.Wurz, who raced for Benetton, McLaren, Williams over a 10-year period, is heavily involved in promoting safety in Formula 1, recently pushing for improved cockpit protection.As it stands, the sport is set to introduce the 'shield' concept from the 2018 season, rather than the 'halo', which was initially backed by Formula 1 chiefs.Wurz feels that, with improved car safety, Formula 1 could increase speeds further and return to old-school layouts, with smaller run-off...
