Pirelli takes softer tyre approach for Silverstone
Formula 1 tyre supplier Pirelli will bring the Supersoft, Soft and Medium compounds to the British Grand Prix – a softer step compared to its choice in recent seasons. The Hard tyre has typically been selected in order to cope with the high-speed demands of the Silverstone layout, but Pirelli’s more durable 2017-spec rubber has prompted a re-think. The orange-banded Hard tyre was taken to the Spanish Grand Prix, but was used only sparingly during the opening practice session, with drivers critical of the decision to bring the compound.
