Wolff on ‘bittersweet' day for Mercedes

Mercedes boss Toto Wolff hailed Valtteri Bottas' 'amazing' win at the Russian Grand Prix but lamented the lack of pace on Lewis Hamilton's car. Bottas claimed the first victory of his Formula 1 career after an absorbing battle with Sebastian Vettel at the death, while Hamilton was cut well adrift of the final podium spot in P4 and finished 36 seconds behind his team-mate. 'An amazing first win for Valtteri and a fantastic race,' Wolff told BBC Sport. 'The bittersweet part is we did not have the pace on Lewis' car. We hoped strategy-wise there would be a safety car for him, but there wasn't one.'
