Ricciardo ‘surprised' to split Ferrari drivers

Daniel Ricciardo has said he did not fully expect to be on the second row of the grid for the Bahrain Grand Prix. The Aussie qualified P4 on the grid after improving with his second Q3 lap to put him ahead of Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen, with team-mate Max Verstappen starting from P6. 'It's a bit of a surprise,' Ricciardo said in the paddock. 'We kind of thought if we put everything together there might be a chance at the second row, and we got it. 'I don't know what Kimi's lap was like, but to jump a Ferrari is nice; it's good progress in one week, so I'm pretty happy.
