Williams not to run on Thursday due to chassis damage

Barcelona Testing – Williams will not run on the final day of the first pre-season test due to chassis damage. Lance Stroll spun the FW40 at Turn 5 and hit the barriers on Wednesday afternoon, which saw him sit out the remainder of the day. The Canadian had already been in the wars as he ended the morning session in the gravel trap. After an overnight inspection of the car, Williams found damage to the chassis that could not be repaired in time to run during Thursday’s session. The team will prepare a second chassis during the afternoon with the aim of being prepared for the start of the second test, which commences on March 7.
