Newey boosted by expected Renault gains

– Red Bull technical chief Adrian Newey is optimistic that Renault has made a "good step forwards" with its power unit, as the partnership bids to close the gap to Mercedes.Mercedes has dominated Formula 1 in the V6 power unit era, taking 51 victories from 59 races since 2014, with Red Bull triumphing five times, thrice in 2014 and twice last season.Red Bull made progress in 2016, partly due to Renault's progress, after a torrid 2015 season in which it finished a win-less fourth in the standings, to emerge as Mercedes' closest contender.Newey is confident that Renault can deliver further gains in 2017, when the sport will welcome revised technical regulations, including...
