First blood to Hamilton in opening practice – FP1 Report

Brazilian Grand Prix – Lewis Hamilton finished at the top of the times at the end of the first practice session at Interlagos, heading off the challenge of Red Bull's Max Verstappen. Nico Rosberg was third in the other Mercedes. Less than a tenth of a second separated Hamilton from Verstappen at the end of the first 90 minutes of action in Sao Paolo, with the Red Bull driver splitting the two Mercedes drivers. Hamilton was quickest in the early stages of the session on the Medium tyre, and continued to be so on the Soft tyres by putting in a 1:11.895 to be 0.096 clear of Verstappen on the same tyres.
