Vettel plays down impact of blue flags
– Sebastian Vettel admitted he was frustrated by lapped traffic at the Japanese Grand Prix but does not believe it had an overall impact on his result.Vettel rapidly moved up to third during the opening few laps, having started from seventh, but a series of messages were broadcast mid-race as he vented his irritation at traffic.Vettel reckons the delays behind slower rivals denied him the chance to emerge from the second round of stops ahead of Lewis Hamilton, but conceded it did not affect the outcome.Vettel came home in fourth position, the first time he has not finished on the podium at Suzuka."We always seem to catch [backmarkers] in corners, where it's difficult to move...
