Strategy change call fails to pay off for frustrated Ericsson

Marcus Ericsson took a strategy gamble during the Singapore Grand Prix that ultimately failed to pay off as the Swede was left embroiled in traffic and unable to better seventeenth at the chequered flag. The Sauber F1 Team driver was confident of a good result at the Marina Bay Street Circuit having started fourteenth, but the switch from a two-stop to a three-stop strategy cost him track position, with the delays he encountered in traffic ending his chances of his first points finish of 2017, and ultimately left him behind the Manor of Pascal Wehrlein. “It is obviously a disappointing result after starting the race from P14,” said Ericsson. “The start was ok; then I was able to move...
