Sainz Jr. gets three-place grid penalty
– Carlos Sainz Jr. has been given a three-place grid penalty for the German Grand Prix, after it was deemed that he blocked Felipe Massa in Saturday's qualifying session.Massa approached a slow-moving Sainz Jr. on the run to Turn 2 in the second phase at Hockenheim and, after stewards investigated the incident, handed out the drop.Sainz Jr. would normally lose three positions, but with Romain Grosjean also receiving a gearbox penalty, which was earned first, he will only fall from 13th to 15th.Meanwhile, Force India is under investigation after Nico Hülkenberg used a set of tyres in qualifying that should have been given back after FP3, according to data.
