Rosberg leads Mercedes 1-2 in first practice at Hockenheim

Nico Rosberg finished Free Practice 1 on top of the time sheets for Mercedes AMG PETRONAS for the German Grand Prix. The German set a fastest lap time of 1:15.517 to fend off team-mate Lewis Hamilton from the top spot. This is the seventh consecutive session that Mercedes have finished one-two for the 2016 Formula 1 season. With this time, there is an improvement of just under four tenths from the fastest FP1 time set by Rosberg in 2014. Behind Hamilton was the first Scuderia Ferrari of Sebastian Vettel who briefly had a moment on the top spot but was unable to stay there, finishing the session with a time of 1:16.667.
