Jolyon Palmer unconcerned by speculation Esteban Ocon could take his seat
Jolyon Palmer insists he isn't threatened by Renault and Mercedes junior Esteban Ocon, despite the young Frenchman impressing during in-season testing last week and prompting speculation he could take Palmer's seat. Ocon, who is under contract to Mercedes but on loan to Renault, looks highly unlikely to graduate to the Mercedes team next season, with Nico Rosberg set to sign a new deal to partner Lewis Hamilton through to 2018. Meanwhile Pascal Wehrlein is waiting in the wings should that not happen. Ocon is however a prime candidate to take up a seat at Renault next year, with Palmer on a one-year deal.
