Baku and the new set-up nightmare for engineers

The new Baku City Circuit is providing Formula One engineers with a plethora of challenges in setting up their cars for the return of the Grand Prix of Europe. They are accustomed to not having an easy job, but this will not be a track they look forward to returning to next year. Firstly, the circuit is unusually high speed for a street circuit. It is surrounded by concrete barriers, and has a very narrow, twisty middle sector. However, the first and final sectors contain long straights and fast corners, making downforce levels difficult to agree on. Any track is a compromise between downforce and top end speed.
