Hamilton pleads with fans to “respect” his Mercedes team

Lewis Hamilton has called on his fans to forget talk of a Mercedes conspiracy against him, as he said he has no doubts his team is not deliberately trying to derail his Formula 1 campaign. Back-to-back engine ancillary failures in qualifying at the Chinese and Russian Grands Prix left Mercedes accused on social media of favouring Hamilton’s team-mate Nico Rosberg. The claims were rubbished by the team – as team principal Toto Wolff accused those talking about conspiracy as being “lunatics”.
