Rosberg avoids first lap drama to win in Sochi

A comfortable driver from pole by the Nico Rosberg won his fourth consecutive race of the season, matching a streak last set by Michael Schumacher in 2004. A spirited drive by Lewis Hamilton from 10th after failing to participate in Saturday’s qualifying Q3, had him finish the race in second place. The Briton found fortune in a dramatic first lap, which saw him leap to 5th, and then challenge Valteri Bottas for a podium position. Home favourite Daniil Kvyat was in the thick of turn 1, firstly rear ending a Sebastian Vettel attempting to overtake Daniel Ricciardo.
