Vandoorne set for Super Formula debut
– McLaren reserve driver Stoffel Vandoorne is set for his debut in the Super Formula championship at Suzuka this weekend.Vandoorne swept to last year's GP2 Series crown but was unable to secure a seat at McLaren, with the outfit opting to retain Jenson Button alongside Fernando Alonso.Vandoorne received an unexpected Formula 1 call up to replace the unfit Alonso at the Bahrain Grand Prix and scored a point, but his racing focus this year will be in Japan.Vandoorne will race for the Honda-powered Docomo Team Dandelion in the category this year, with the first round taking place at the home of the Japanese Grand Prix this weekend.Further events follow at Okayama, Fuji, Motegi,...
