Throwback Thursday: 2005 Chinese Grand Prix

Ahead of Fernando Alonso’s impending return to the sport, F1 Hub looks back on the Spaniard’s first constructor's clinching race. Rounding of a dramatic 2005 season, the Chinese Grand Prix saw the closure to Kimi Raikkonen and Alonso’s season long rivalry. Though Alonso had been guaranteed the title with a win in Suzuka, the Chinese iteration would determine whether Renault lifted the constructor’s trophy ahead of Mclaren. Being competed for the second time around the circuit, the 2004 race had featured a rare win by Rubens Barrichello when Ferrari team-mate Michael Schumacher spun out in qualifying and started from the back.
