Rosberg was close to race retirement – Wolff

Australian Grand Prix – Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff has revealed that Australian Grand Prix race winner Nico Rosberg was close to race retirement. Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff has said that the team were close to retiring Nico Rosberg from today's Australian Grand Prix, with the car suffering from an overheating brake caliper. Nico Rosberg recovered from a poor start and benefited from a strong tyre strategy call from Mercedes to take the chequered flag in what eventually looked to be a comfortable 15th career victory. However, the number nine car picked up debris part-way through the race, which increased the brake temperatures, causing concern for the Mercedes crew....
