Claire Williams urges patience before judging new qualifying format

Williams deputy team principal Claire Williams believes drivers and pundits who have criticized Formula1's new qualifying format should at least wait until after the fact before judging the scheme. In a bid to improve the entertainment and introduce a level of uncertainty into Sunday's race grid, Formula 1 has voted on the introduction of a system which will see the slowest driver eliminated after a succession of time intervals during each segment of qualifying. Many drivers - notably Sebastian Vettel - expressed an adverse opinion on the new format, while the debut of the scheme itself was even at one point deemed uncertain given the short delay required to change...
