Ultra Soft tyre gets first run in testing

– Pirelli's Ultra Soft tyre compound was trialled in public for the first time on the second day of pre-season testing at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.Pirelli has been Formula 1's sole tyre supplier since the start of 2011 and for this year has introduced an Ultra Soft tyre to its existing dry range of Super Soft, Soft, Medium and Hard compounds.Under revised regulations, three dry weather compounds will be taken to each Grand Prix, with drivers given free choice of compounds for 10 sets out of the allotted 13.Pirelli's selections for the opening four races do not include the purple-banded Ultra Soft tyre, but it was sampled in public for the first time by Daniel Ricciardo on...
