More penalties, same position for Alonso

Already set to start Sunday's Brazilian GP from the back of the grid, Fernando Alonso's latest 35-place penalty will have no impact on his grid slot. The double World Champion had an engine issue in Friday's practice at Interlagos and then another at the start of Saturday's qualifying. That meant he did not set a time and will therefore start Sunday's race from the very back of the grid. As such the fact that Honda have had to put a 12th engine into his MP4-30 will have absolutely no impact on his start position. A 12th internal combustion engine plus five places each for a new turbocharger, MGU-H, MGU-K, control electronics and energy store brings his latest penalty tally up to 35.
