Rosberg heads opening Singapore session

Mercedes AMG Petronas Nico Rosberg set the quickest time during the first practice session for the Singapore Grand Prix, as day turned into night at Marina Bay. Rosberg, who has had his fourth power unit fitted this weekend, spent the entirety of the session atop the table and gradually lowered his time, ending with a 1:47.995. Rosberg’s time proved to be three-tenths of a second quicker than Mercedes team-mate Lewis Hamilton, who had a couple of wide moments during the session. Daniel Ricciardo finished narrowly behind Hamilton in third place as he displayed the pace of the Red Bull RB11.
