Lotus survived Monza thanks to help from F1 rivals

Lotus' direct Formula 1 rivals helped the embattled team get through the recent Italian Grand Prix weekend. Overnight rain before qualifying day at Monza damaged some of the Enstone team's tyre blankets, it has emerged. 'Our colleagues helped us out with some replacements,' chief engineer Alan Permane told Auto Motor und Sport, referring to Sauber, Toro Rosso and Ferrari. 'They are direct rivals in the championship, but did not hesitate for a moment. Otherwise we would have had only three sets of tyres for qualifying,' he said.
