Sainz surprised by Toro Rosso turnaround in qualifying

Carlos Sainz has expressed surprise after progressing through to the top ten shootout for Toro Rosso, despite a troubled third and final practice session. The Spaniard will start tomorrow’s 57-lap race ninth, alongside the Lotus of Romain Grosjean. During the third and final practice session earlier in the day the Faenza-based outfit suffered a tough sixty minutes around the Bahrain International Circuit, with Max Verstappen and Sainz eventually finishing 14th and 17th respectively.
